Ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded any factual proof contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
